Los Angeles – Over the next 16 months, the thin plastic bags that are available for free at checkout lines in many parts of the US, will be phased out in Los Angeles. With a clear majority of votes (13 to 1), the City Council of Los Angeles adopted the ban on handing out disposable plastic bags. More than 7,500 stores are affected by the ban, reports the “Los Angeles Times”. In the future, customers will have to bring their own bags when shopping or purchase paper bags.
